SENATORS OUST RANGERS
The Ottawa Senators are NHL Eastern Conference finals-bound for the first time since 2007. Mike Hoffman, Mark Stone, Erik Karlsson and Jean- Gabriel Pageau scored and Craig Anderson made 37 saves in a 4-2 victory Tuesday against the host New York Rangers to win the semifinal series in six games. In his first season in charge of the Senators, coach Guy Boucher has transformed Ottawa’s mindset from risk-taker to defensive first. The Senators also beat the Boston Bruins in six games in the first round. Ottawa went to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007 but lost to the Anaheim Ducks. The Senators next will face either the Pittsburgh Penguins or Washington Capitals; Game 7 in that semifinal is Wednesday.
