Come fall, ‘ The Voice’ contestants will have a new judge to impress: Ms. Jennifer Hudson. The singer who rose to fame on Season 3 of ‘American Idol’ (getting a revival on ABC), shared the news on Instagram Wednesday evening with her nearly 2 million followers.

BAD DAY ‘TIMELESS,’ ‘LAST MAN STANDING’ FANS

‘Timeless,’ the top pick in USA TODAY’s Save Our Shows survey, won’t return for a second season. Another show that received high support for renewal in the tally, ABC’s ‘Last Man Standing,’ also is being canceled. The Tim Allen comedy is in its sixth season. Time-travel fantasy ‘Timeless,’ which has been off the air since February, was a modest performer behind ‘The Voice,’ and aired only a 16-episode first season. Though its ratings perked up with delayed viewing, and producers made a valiant effort to save it, its demise came down to dollars and cents: Unlike much of NBC’s programming, the series was produced by an outside studio, Sony Pictures Television, so NBC had fewer chances to profit from its success.
