MARYLAND LACROSSE TEAMS ADVANCE IN NCAAS

-

It was a good Sunday for fans of University of Maryland lacrosse. The Terrapins men’s and women’s teams, both seeded first in their tournaments, advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. The women began the day in College Park with a 21-6 romp against High Point. Megan Whittle paced Maryland with five goals, and Zoe Stukenberg added three goals and two assists. The Terrapins will host eighth-seeded Stony Brook in the Round of 8. The men outlasted Bryant 13-10, paced by two goals and six assists from Matt Rambo. It looked as though they’d have just as easy a time as the women’s team, as the Terps opened an eight-goal lead in the second half, but the Bulldogs rattled off the game’s last five goals. Maryland next will play No. 8 Albany. — Eddie Timanus
