U.S. CAPITOL INSTALLS DUCK RAMPS AT REFLECTING POOL

Save the baby ducks! That’s what was on the mind of the Architect of the Capitol when duck ramps were installed at the U.S. Capitol’s reflecting pool on Monday.

The reflecting pool is, as the AOC noted in a blog post, a popular destination for humans and ducks alike. But ducklings faced an obstacle if they want to enjoy the water: They had to get over a limestone curb to get into and out of the water.

The AOC worked with the animal rescue service City Wildlife on designs that eventually led to the new ramps.
