I agree with the decision of the Army
and Air Force military academies to not commission the transgender cadets in their respective branches of service as noted in USA TODAY’s article, “Transgender cadets at military academies can graduate but not serve.”
However, I disagree with allowing these cadets to graduate in their chosen gender. They entered the service academies as one gender, and they should graduate as such.
More important, these two cadets should be mandatorily placed into service to pay back American taxpayers who footed the costs of their education.
If the transgender cadets fail to serve their country in some sort of capacity, either through refusal to serve or an inability to serve, they should be billed and wages garnished to repay taxpayers. Randall W. Klotz Germantown, Ohio
