ray and No. 3 Stan Wawrinka won in the French Open, the most buzzworthy development stemmed from a match between the 50th-ranked player in the world and the 285th. After losing to Martin Klizan of Slovakia 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, 4-6, 0-6, 6-4 in the first round, wild-card entry Laurent

Lokoli of France skipped the usual sign of sportsmanship. Instead of shaking hands, he went to the sideline to pack up his things. When Klizan approached, right arm extended, Lokoli dismissively waved him off with the back of a hand, motioning for him to stay away. Afterward, Lokoli said he wasn’t being a sore loser but rather that he didn’t want to shake hands because he thought Klizan was faking an injury during the match.

uA French player’s French Open credential was revoked because he grabbed a reporter and kissed her on the neck during a live TV interview at the tournament. The French Tennis Federation announced Tuesday that it was punishing 21-year-old qualifier Maxime Hamou for inappropriate behavior toward a female journalist a day earlier, when he lost in the first round. The federation said it would investigate the matter further. Hamou’s behavior also caught the attention of French politicians. On Twitter, Sports Minister Laura Flessel called what Hamou did to Eurosport TV’s Maly Thomas an “assault.” Cecile Duflot, a member of parliament, tweeted: “He kisses her by force, she tries to get away, he holds her by the neck and everyone… laughs #tired.” NATIONALS’ HARPER LEADS NL ALL-STAR VOTING Right fielder Bryce Harper is the leading All-Star vote-getter in the National League. Harper, who is batting .331 with 15 homers and 41 RBI, received 900,079 votes to beat out Washington Nationals teammate and second baseman

Daniel Murphy (669,643) for the most in the first ballot release. Harper is aiming for his fifth career All-Star selection and fourth fan-elected start. He led the NL in fan balloting in 2015. BEER CAN THROWER PLEADS GUILTY IN TORONTO The man suspected of throwing a beer can at a Baltimore Orioles outfielder during a playoff game in Toronto has pleaded guilty to mischief. In an agreed statement of facts presented in court Tuesday, Ken Pagan admitted tossing a can of beer on the field as the Orioles’ Hyun Soo Kim was about to catch a ball during the Oct. 4 game against the Blue Jays. The statement gave no indication as to why Pagan threw the can. PREP FOOTBALL COACH SANCHEZ ACQUITTED Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) football coach Kenny Sanchez was found not guilty of a domestic violence charge that stemmed from a false statement given by his for- mer girlfriend. Sanchez stood accused of assaulting Brooke

Stewart on Christmas morning when he had been picking up their son as part of a new custody agreement. Stewart told police that Sanchez came to her house, grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face. Earlier this month, though, Stewart said in an affidavit that the claim was fabricated and Sanchez didn’t hit her. Despite the admission, prosecutors pressed on with the trial. Sanchez, whose football team went undefeated in the last two seasons and finished atop USA TODAY High School Sports’ 2016 Super 25 rankings, was suspended pending the outcome of the case.
