CMT MUSIC AWARDS CMT, 8 ET/PT

CMT Music Awards, one of many country-music awards shows, is hosted by actor Charles Esten, who stars on the network’s

Nashville. Performances will blend pop and country with scheduled artists including The Chainsmokers, Florida Georgia Line, Earth, Wind & Fire and Lady Antebellum.

MASTERCHEF FOX, 8 ET/PT

The somewhat over-the-top but entertaining reality-competition show returned last week with the first part of a “Battle for the White Apron” round, in which home cooks compete to get a spot on the show. Aarón Sánchez has joined the series as a full-time judge, and he’s a very welcome addition. The competition works better with three consistent voices as mentors and critics.

LUCY FX, 8 ET/PT

If you’re on a female superhero kick after seeing Wonder Woman, it may be worth checking out director Luc Besson’s 2014 sci-fi thriller starring Scarlett Johansson. The actress plays a woman who gains vast powers after activating 100% of her brain (which is not a real scientific concept, but it works for the movie). The film is the mix of engaging action and trippy visuals you’d expect from the director of The Fifth Element. Join our live TV chat at Facebook.com/usatodaylife Monday, 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT
