MCDERMOTT STAYING PUT

Creighton men’s basketball coach Greg McDermott announced he is staying with the Bluejays, where he has been for the last seven seasons. McDermott was offered the head coaching job at Ohio State after a meeting Wednesday night. “I’m blessed and honored to be the coach at Creighton,” McDermott tweeted, “and am looking forward to many more great years in Omaha!” McDermott, 52, has taken Creighton to the NCAA tournament four times and posted a 166-82 record in his seven seasons. McDermott also previously coached at Iowa State and Northern Iowa. The Buckeyes and Thad Matta parted ways this week after 13 seasons.
