CELEBRATE: This week marks the 50th anniversar­y of the Monterey Internatio­nal Pop Music Festival. The original featured ’60s icons including Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Janis Joplin, The Steve Miller Band, Simon & Garfunkel and the Grateful Dead. This year’s festival lifts off at the Monterey County Fairground­s Friday through Sunday and includes such acts as Regina Spektor, Jack Johnson and Norah Jones.

LISTEN: Lorde releases her album Melodrama this Friday. It’s the artist’s second album and the highly anticipate­d follow-up to her acclaimed debut album, Pure Heroine. The album’s first singles, Green Light and Liability, were released this past March.
