Logano family set to expand by one
BROOKLYN, MICH. On a day when fathers were being celebrated, driver Joey Logano shared his own special announcement.
He tweeted that he and wife Brittany were expecting their first child.
“Wanted to announce this in Victory lane. Thrilled to say Brittany and I are expecting a Little Logano on 1/11/18.”
Logano, who finished third Sunday at Michigan International Speedway, just missing a chance to share the news while celebrating at team owner Roger Penske’s home track, might be able to get some tips from Team Penske teammate Brad Keselowski. Brad and wife Paige have a daughter, Scarlett.
In fact, the garage is brimming with new dads, including Sunday’s winner Kyle Larson. Larson and girlfriend Katelyn Sweet are the parents of Owen, 21⁄
As for his third-place finish, Logano said, “Feels great. You have no idea how good this feels. Feels like a win, just to stop the bleeding. No secret, last month, month and a half, has been a struggle for us, with just a lot of things going wrong during the races. This was an uneventful race for us.”
Logano said he made the most out of the car he had.
“The only way we were going to do better is something crazy happening in front of me and sneak by to get the lead,” Logano said. “That was the only way I was going to do it.
“We had a 10th-place car. We finished third with it. Proud of that.”
Logano, who won at Richmond International Raceway in April, hasn’t qualified for the 16-driver playoff.
His victory at RIR will not count toward the postseason, as his team incurred a post-race penalty.
