BOY BAND ABC, 8 ET/PT

Hosted by singer Rita Ora, this new reality show looks to put together a boy band with the help of “architects” including former boy-bander Nick Carter (the Backstreet Boys), former girlgrouper Emma Bunton (the Spice Girls) and producer Timbaland. Viewers voting at home will help pick the singers. The winning group gets a recording contract with Hollywood Records. Think of it as a combination of The Voice and Making the Band.

HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT NBC, 8 ET/PT

Game-show season is in full swing, and along with the newly revived offerings like The Gong Show and Love Connection, recent successes are back, including the Jane Lynch-hosted Hollywood Game Night, which returns for its fifth season tonight. The opener pits Veep stars Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky and Matt Walsh against The Walking Dead cast members Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt and Lauren Cohan. Will political staffers or zombie killers win the day?

INSIDE THE ACTORS STUDIO BRAVO, 8 ET/PT

Rough Night may be getting some rough reviews, but it’s only one entry in Scarlett Johansson’s long acting career, which gets the Actors Studio treatment from host James Lipton. The Avengers and Lucy star makes her first appearance on the Emmywinning show, in which Lipton interviews actors and other filmmakers about their lives and careers.
