CHIEFS EXTEND REID, LET GM DORSEY GO

-

Andy Reid has turned the Kansas City Chiefs into a perennial NFL playoff contender, and now he’s being rewarded for it. However, he’ll have to sustain the franchise’s success amid a major change to the front office. The club announced an extension for its coach Thursday shortly before revealing the departure of general manager John Dorsey. After 14 years as coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, Reid came to Kansas City in January 2013, just days before Dorsey was hired. The Chiefs have reached the postseason in three of the last four seasons after going three times in the 15 years before the arrival of Reid and Dorsey. Reid’s task now is vying for a title. The Chiefs haven’t reached the AFC Championship Game since the 1993 season and last played in the Super Bowl in 1970. Contractual terms of his deal were not revealed.
