The original premise of ESPN’s
30 for 30 documentary series was to produce 30 one-hour films by 30 filmmakers to mark the network’s 30th birthday. Eight years later, 30 for 30 has become a franchise encompassing more than 90 films, digital shorts and now, a podcast.
30 for 30 Podcasts are here with that inspiring, sports-documentary adrenaline rush in a format that’s easy to consume while you’re in the car or on the go.

The franchise spin-off starts its first season with a look at Reebok’s ubiquitous 1992 “Dan and Dave” campaign. The 50-minute story — about how commercial stars and decathletes Dan O’Brien and Dave Johnson became household names ahead of their unpredictable Olympic runs — will have you sweating, biting your nails, crying and laughing from behind the wheel.
It’s one of those episodes that’s
so good, that you’re going to want to bring up “this podcast I was listening to” at a party, and excitedly retell the story to your friends. But don’t do that. Share the audio show and let the real Dan and Dave, along with archival audio, do the talking.
Also coming up in the five-episode season, the story behind the bootleg “Yankees Suck” T-shirts sold outside Boston’s Fenway Park in 2000 that became a musthave. Subscribe now, podcast fans, on ESPN.com or through your podcast player.
