TESLA PREPARES FOR SURGE

Electric carmaker Tesla is adding 100 service centers worldwide and hiring more than 1,000 technician­s to meet expected demand for its new Model 3 sedan. The Model 3 goes on sale this month.

RENT-A-CENTER REJECTS BID

Shares of Rent-A-Center zoomed Tuesday after the furniture leasor revealed that it rejected a bid from a private investor for $15 per share, or about $800 million. In a letter dated June 20, Vintage Capital Management, a private equity firm, sent an unsolicite­d bid to buy all shares of Rent-A-Center’s common stock. Shares rose 9% to close at $12.09 Tuesday.

JCPENNEY CFO STEPS DOWN

JCPenney announced Monday that Chief Financial Officer Edward Record will be leaving. Andrew Drexler, a senior vice president, will replace him in the interim, the company said.
