COYOTES HIRE TOCCHET
The Arizona Coyotes have fussed over their roster for much of the offseason, but on Tuesday they filled the hole behind the bench, naming former player and assistant coach Rick Tocchet as their head coach. Arizona had been in the market for a coach since
Dave Tippett and the team mutually parted ways June 22. Tippett felt it was time for a change after eight up and down seasons with the Coyotes, while owner
Andrew Barroway cited “philosophical differences” for the split. After the Coyotes announcementon Tocchet, the Pittsburgh Penguins hired newly elected Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Recchi to take over Tocchet’s position.
