Chat with author Michael Connelly
You’ll get an early look at ‘The Late Show,’ his latest crime story
You’ll want to #BookmarkThis. On Tuesday, join USA TODAY for a Facebook live chat with author Michael Connelly about his new crime novel, The Late
Show (Little, Brown). #BookmarkThis is a series of live video chats with best-selling authors, and fans can submit questions. (Details at right.) FROM BOSCH TO BALLARD ... It’s a great chance to touch base with Connelly, best known for his books starring Harry Bosch, a tough former LAPD detective who’s now out on his own as a private investigator. Connelly also is executive producer of Bosch, the Amazon Prime series starring Titus Welliver. In The Late Show (on sale Tuesday), Connelly introduces a new lead character, Renée Ballard, a smart, feisty LAPD detective who has been banished to the night shift after accusing a supervisor of sexual harassment. Ballard puts herself at risk by going rogue and investigating two cases during the day, one a multiple-victim shooting at a nightclub, the other the severe beating of a transvestite prostitute. CRIME REPORTER TO NOVELIST Connelly, a former crime reporter for the Los Angeles Times, had a No. 1 USA TODAY best seller last year with The Wrong Side of
Goodbye, a Bosch novel. In 2011, his 2005 best seller The Lincoln
Lawyer was made into a movie starring Matthew McConaughey as attorney Mickey Haller.
The Late Show is Connelly’s 30th novel.
