We need to find ways to handle North Korea

I believe the following would solve the North Korea problem:

China agrees to include North Korea under its nuclear protection umbrella.

In exchange, North Korea agrees to dismantle and destroy all offensive nuclear, chemical and biological weaponry in its possession and to forgo future testing and development relative to these types of weapons (i.e. they don’t need “deterrence” given China’s protective umbrella).

The United States (along with allied countries, like South Korea and Japan) agrees to sign a peace treaty/mutual nonaggression pact with North Korea, which would include a formal recognition by all parties of each others’ right to exist as sovereign nations in an atmosphere of peace, friendship and mutual respect.

The United Nations agrees to sponsor, organize and implement a global initiative designed to develop North Korea into an economically well-developed, self-sufficient nation.

My best advice would be to compare the above solution to other solutions being considered and ask which approach has the best chance of producing the most favorable outcome for all concerned.

If there’s a better solution out there, let’s hear it. If not, then what are we waiting for? David L. Miller Spooner, Wis.

Yes, we should double down on failure and negotiate yet another deal that North Korea will break within the year. Ray Works

To address the North Korea problem, I suggest President Trump resign. The majority of America is counting on it. Allow a real man or real women to do a job that he is incompetently, and embarrassingly floundering in. Tom Burakowski
