Gleeful finale:

There’s nothing Grimm about this fairy-tale ending. Chris Colfer lands at No. 2 this week on USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list with The Land of Stories: Worlds Collide, the sixth and final book in his best-selling series for kids. It’s the highest ranking ever for the young author and former Glee star. His previous best showing was No. 4 last year with The Land of Stories: An Author’s Odyssey, book five. The series, which began in 2012 with The Wishing Spell (which peaked at No. 42), revolves around girl and boy twins Alex and Conner Bailey and their adventures in the world of fairy tales. In Worlds Collide, Alex goes missing, the fairy-tale characters escape the confines of their storybook worlds, and the Big Apple braces for mayhem. The next big step for the series is the movies.

The Wishing Spell has been optioned by 20th Century Fox, with Colfer set to direct and write the script. Colfer is on the road meeting fans on a book tour that wraps up July 31 in Los Angeles.

Silva lining:

It’s two in a row for Daniel Silva. The author lands at No. 1 with his latest Gabriel Allon thriller, House of Spies, his 20th novel. Its predecessor, The Black Widow, also landed in the top spot, on July 21, 2016. Three Silva titles have made it as high as No. 2: The English Girl in 2013; The Heist in 2014; and The English Spy in 2015. Silva’s first book, The Unlikely

Spy, peaked at No. 32 in 1998. The Allon series is being developed by MGM as a potential TV series.
