O.J. served more time than deserved for the crime

O.J. Simpson was granted parole for his conviction on armed robbery, clearing the way for the former athlete to be released from a Nevada prison as soon as Oct. 1.
The entire Las Vegas prosecution was a setup, to my understanding. All of the people who did the worst things in this case got off. This was all about punishing O.J. Simpson for a crime for which he was already acquitted. He was grotesquely overcharged and oversentenced. Had it not been O.J., he probably would not have been charged with aggravated armed robbery and certainly not kidnapping.
This is an example of why so many people have little or no respect for the criminal justice system as it is applied to minorities. They’ll still get you, even after the system acquits you. Bradford Talamon
I think O.J. should be considered a murderer. I really believe he killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman! One of them was the mother of his children! He has shown absolutely no remorse. And now he’s going to go free. Our justice system is a travesty! Joe Siegel
O.J. did nine years for a threeyear crime. Sad day in America where a judge can give you 33 years after the assets in dispute over being “stolen” were awarded back to you. O.J. was also found not guilty in his previous trial. Let O.J. Simpson live in peace with his pension.
O.J. helped show America how racist this country was. Had he been accused of killing two African-American people, I don’t think anyone would have cared. Charity Smith
O.J. should have never gone to prison in the first place! He didn’t have a gun, someone stole his stuff and he just wanted it back. The judge gave him 33 years for an armed robbery case — the worst of the worst. Further proof we need to overhaul our criminal justice system. Staice Petties Glover
If he were younger, I’d say it’s just a matter of time before he ends up behinds bars again, but we’ll see. O.J’s murder trial will always be remembered as the classic example of a shameful and failed justice system. Denise Antrim

We asked our followers whether O.J. Simpson’s previous cases should have been taken into consideration during his parole hearing. Good for him on getting his parole granted. Now let O.J. go crawl under a rock and stop putting him in the spotlight. He doesn’t deserve any sympathy. @jonesdelinda1 No. That’s not how the law works. Considering prior cases creates a bias, which opens up an ugly legal can of worms. @zfeldman71 No, our laws prevent considering prior cases. Being punished for something most people think you did is one very slippery slope. @tildejac It is not what people think, it is what is written in the law.
