Hand was arrested Saturday, days before the Crimson Tide open summer camp. According to the report, Hand was parked in a parking lot close to campus. He was asleep sitting in the driver’s seat with the headlights on and the car in park but running. The arresting officer found Hand at 4:30 a.m. at the 1100 block of University Boulevard. Bars in Tuscaloosa close at 2 a.m. He was arrested and re- leased on a $1,000 bond. The report says a pretrial hearing will be at Tuscaloosa Municipal Court on Sept. 18, two days after Alabama is scheduled to play Colorado State. “This type of behavior is not acceptable and we are disappointed in Da’Shawn’s actions,” Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said in a statement. “We are still gathering information and will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline as we move forward, so better choices and decisions can be made in the future.” Hand had 21 tackles and two sacks as a reserve a season ago and was expected to be the front-runner to start on the line this season.
