Campus sexual assault fraud can, does happen

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos signaled strong disagreeme­nt with the Obama administra­tion’s erosion of due process protection­s for college students accused of sexual assault.

Requiring criminal standards of proof in higher education administra­tive hearings is not appropriat­e since the only sanctions available to the university (suspension or expulsion) are not criminal penalties. A discipline­d student is at liberty to enroll elsewhere. Charles Buck

False reporting of rape does happen. False accusers should be punished with the same sentence as rape itself. The law is here to protect us all, not to be used as a truncheon because someone is filled with regret the morning after or, even worse, as some sort of retributio­n.
