TESLA ISSUING $1.5B IN DEBT FOR MODEL 3 PRODUCTION

Facing the steep costs of expanding its manufactur­ing capacity to make its first massmarket electric car, Tesla plans to issue $1.5 billion in debt. The Silicon Valley automaker said Monday it would borrow the money “to further strengthen its balance sheet during this period of rapid scaling with the launch of Model 3, and for general corporate purposes.”
