Trump can kick back and relax with these reads

- Jocelyn McClurg @jocelynmcclurg USA TODAY

President Obama used to whisk his girls to Politics and Prose bookstore in Washington for shopping expeditions, and last year the reader in chief told Americans they shouldn’t miss The Underground Railroad, Colson Whitehead’s prize-winning novel about slavery.

When Bill Clinton was president, the mystery fan made a star out of novelist Walter Mosley. And it turns out that George W. Bush was a voracious reader during his presidency. According to Karl Rove, the president’s eclectic reading list included everything from biographies to Albert Camus’ The Stranger.

President Trump may be a best-selling author (though The Art of the Deal was ghostwritten by Tony Schwartz), but he’s not known as much of a reader. The former reality TV star is more of a TV guy. We doubt Hillary Clinton’s or James Comey’s forthcoming memoirs are on his library waiting list.

But what if Trump were to stuff his beach bag, or golf bag, with books to read during his working summer break at his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J.?

Here’s our recommended reading list:
