MR. MERCEDES AUDIENCE NETWORK, 8 ET/PT

Created by Big Little Lies producer David E. Kelley,

Mr. Mercedes is the latest Stephen King adaptation to hit the small screen. The 10-episode season takes its cue from King’s 2014 novel, a detective story following Bill Hodges (Brendan Gleeson), a past-his-prime investigator who re-emerges to track down the titular killer (Harry Treadaway), who taunts the detective back into the field. Kelley told USA TODAY that “people will come to Mr. Mercedes for the thrills that Stephen King so readily offers, and they will stay for the richness and characters.”

THE STORY OF DIANA ABC, 9 ET/PT

ABC and People have joined for this two-night special, which will feature an exclusive U.S. interview with Earl Spencer, Diana’s brother Charles. Spencer, along with other people who knew her, offers stories about the princess. The special also includes home-movie footage.

THE CARMICHAEL SHOW NBC, 9 ET/PT

This insightful and hilarious NBC sitcom comes to an end tonight as the series’ cancellation was announced earlier this summer. Like so many other episodes, the finale includes a family argument, this time about money, after Bobby (Lil Rel Howery) brings his girlfriend home.
