China needs to mediate before a war ensues

Chinese President Xi Jinping urged President Trump to use restraint over the growing tension between the U.S. and North Korea.

China doesn’t want a unified Korea or U.S. troops that close. China knows that in a shooting war, North Korea cannot defeat the combined South Korean and U.S. forces. China likes Kim Jong Un as a buffer. If we strike first, China will get involved. Jonathan Scott Spicer
