Intoleranc­e keeps taking innocent lives

More than 120 people were injured and 14 died in two attacks in the Spanish province of Catalunya. The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria claimed responsibi­lity.

Once again, terror has surged through thousands of people and has ended the lives of several of them. Perhaps it is time to reflect and think that for any society, and for the whole of humanity, the treatment of minorities is not a matter like many others. It, along with the treatment of women, the elderly and children, is one of the most important ethical progress stepping stones.

A world in which human diversity is respected more and more, where all people can express themselves in their preferred language, profess their creeds in peace without exposing themselves to hostility and discredit from the authoritie­s or the majority population. That would be a world that would be advanced, that would progress and where the events of Spain wouldn't take place. Javier Gomez

More reason to check immigrants from Muslim-majority countries when they come to the United States. Countries like Spain, France and Germany are paying a big price for not doing proper vetting of immigrants. Agnes Weeren-Carlson
