2 DEAD, 3 KIDS RESCUED AFTER ITALY EARTHQUAKE
Firefighters on the Italian resort island of Ischia first freed a 7month-old baby, then his two older brothers from rubble Tuesday, working through the night and often by hand to rescue the children after a magnitude-4.0 earthquake toppled homes and other buildings.
At least two people were killed in the quake that struck just before 9 p.m. Monday. Thirty-nine people were injured, and about 2,600 were left homeless. The fatalities were an elderly woman who was in a church that crumbled in the quake and a person who was located in the rubble but had not been extracted.
