In this age we’re living, a time of such strife

and division, we always seem to be drawing a line in the sand between “us” and “them,” between races, political parties, religions and nations. It can become overwhelmi­ng and heartbreak­ing.

Things like watching the solar eclipse are a gentle yet immense reminder that, ultimately, we are all one — one humanity, one existence, together.

We need to focus more on what brings us together, rather than what drives us apart. And to never forget these words of President John F. Kennedy: “Our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s future. And we are all mortal.” Michelle Lindsey
