Coldplay’s ‘Houston #1’

-

Coldplay dedicated a special song to Houston and the victims of Hurricane Harvey at their concert Monday. Chris Martin paused his band’s Miami show to explain that they were supposed to play in Houston last week, but couldn’t due to the storm. “A lot of people were supposed to come to the concert and we let them down,” he said. “We’re so grateful for all the people who come to our shows, and canceling shows is not something we like to do, but in this instance we kind of had to.” So the band wanted to send love to the city from Miami with an original song called Houston #1. “We’ll never play this again, this is a one-off,” Martin said before launching into the song, which features a country vibe and features wistful lyrics of “get(ting) back to Houston.” “Oh Houston, you got to keep on keeping on,” Martin sang. “Sometimes you might think that as a popular band or whatever, we don’t give a s - - - about where we are, but we really do, because we understand that we wouldn’t be here without you guys and girls,” Martin said.
