FED’S FISCHER STEPS DOWN FOR ‘PERSONAL REASONS’
Federal Reserve Vice Chair Stanley Fischer, a centrist voice on the Fed, is stepping down. Citing “personal reasons,” Fischer, 73, said his resignation will take effect Oct. 13. An internationally respected economist and former chief of Israel’s central bank, Fischer joined the Fed in May 2014.
