FED’S FISCHER STEPS DOWN FOR ‘PERSONAL REASONS’

Federal Reserve Vice Chair Stanley Fischer, a centrist voice on the Fed, is stepping down. Citing “personal reasons,” Fischer, 73, said his resignatio­n will take effect Oct. 13. An internatio­nally respected economist and former chief of Israel’s central bank, Fischer joined the Fed in May 2014.
