BROWNS RELEASE PRYOR
Calvin Pryor has been released by the Cleveland Browns, three months after the team acquired him, coach Hue Jackson told reporters Thursday. Pryor, a safety, came to Cleveland in early June when the Browns traded linebacker Demario Davis to the New York Jets. He was a 2014 first-round draft choice but underachieved with the Jets, who picked two safeties in this year’s draft. Jackson said Pryor had been released because of “an internal matter.” NFL Network reported it was because of fight between Pryor and wide receiver
Ricardo Louis before Thursday’s practice. Jackson declined to confirm that account. uBrowns defensive end
Myles Garrett was diagnosed with a high ankle sprain that will keep the top overall pick in this year’s draft sidelined at least two weeks. Garrett was injured in practice on Wednesday when a teammate fell on his right leg. The Browns said in their statement that Garrett’s status “will be updated in a couple weeks.” Garrett suffered a high ankle sprain in his other leg last year in his final season at Texas A&M.
