THOMPSON MILKS HER WIN WITH DRINK AT SPEEDWAY

-

It was hard to tell if Lexi Thompson had more fun winning the Indy Women in Tech Championship or celebrating afterward. After her four-stroke victory Saturday over Lydia Ko at Brickyard Crossing Golf Course, Thompson paid homage to winning in Indianapolis. She was driven to adjacent Indianapolis Motor Speedway and reveled in her victory like an Indy 500 driver. She doused herself with a jug of milk and kissed the bricks. Then she took a couple of laps around the track in a pace car with Doug Boles, president of IMS. As Thompson hit the gas pedal, it was obvious she was not afraid. “I’m all about driving fast,” Thompson said. So how fast did she go? “I got it up to 122,” she said, smiling. Thompson shot a final-round 68 to win the tournament at 19 under par (197, 63-66-68).
