‘It’ guy:

Stephen King fans are staying up in anticipati­on of Sleeping Beauties, his brand-new fright-fest with the fairy-tale title, on sale Sept. 26. But first, the horror master has a new/old hit with It, his 31-year-old horror tale that’s scaring up fresh business in bookstores thanks to the boffo movie adaptation. The 1,153-page (!) novel, which first landed on the list at No. 17 on April 6, is No.

4 this week, its highest ranking. Originally released in 1986 (USA TODAY’s Best-Selling Books list didn’t launch until fall 1993), It is the story of a homicidal clown named Pennywise who terrorizes kids in Derry, Maine. The movie, which stars Bill Skarsgård as the creepy clown, made $123.4 million opening weekend. Scribner published a movie tie-in edition of It on Sept.

5. Sleeping Beauties, a horror tale about women who become feral and violent because of a sleeping disorder in an Appalachia­n town, is co-written by Owen King, King’s novelist son.

All about Eve:

J.D. Robb — aka Nora Roberts — has her second No. 1 “In Death” debut this year with the latest title in her futuristic crime thriller series. Secrets in Death lands at No. 1 this week; Echoes in Death made its debut in the top spot on Feb. 16. Secrets is the 45th title in the long-running series. In the new book, Lt. Eve Dallas investigat­es the murder of a social media gossip columnist who was blackmaili­ng A-listers on the side. Secrets is the ninth Eve Dallas thriller to land in the top spot since 2011. The prolific and popular Roberts also landed at No. 1 on June 8 with Come Sundown, written under her own name.
