Reid tires of questions about Kelce’s penalties

Andy Reid’s sideline demeanor Sunday after yet another costly post-play penalty by Travis Kelce is the only window the coach is providing about his feelings regarding his tight end’s antics.

Asked several times Wednesday to clarify what his message was to Kelce after the two-time Pro Bowl selection’s latest penalty, the normally even-keeled Reid appeared to become agitated as he delivered his response.

“I told him when I kick him out of here he’s going to become a writer so then he can do all that stuff,” Reid said, sarcastically answering a question about how many times Reid needs to talk to Kelce about his behavior. “I’ve taken care of it. If you want to ask me again, I’m going to give you the same answer. You got it? Is it clear to you?”

The star tight end has been penalized twice this season for post-play misconduct, costing the Chiefs 15 yards each time.

In the season opener against the New England Patriots, Kelce was called for a personal foul after shoving the ball into the crotch area of an opposing linebacker.

Last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce was flagged for taunting after he ran toward the Eagles sideline following a touchdown by Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt. Later, he flapped his arms and mocked the team’s “Fly Eagles Fly” celebration.

Last season, Kelce was ejected from a November game against the Jacksonville Jaguars after multiple personal foul penalties, including one in which he threw his towel at the referee. He also was penalized for shoving a Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback in an AFC divisional playoff loss in January.
