Get the long and short of Lady Gaga in ‘Five Foot Two’

- Andrea Mandell

Lady Gaga isn’t hiding her pain anymore.

Before Gaga postponed the European leg of her tour because of health problems, the star allowed cameras to witness her chronic illness in Gaga: Five Foot Two, her new Netflix documentary.

Following the Toronto International Film Festival premiere, Gaga identified fibromyalgia as the source of her debilitating pain.

Notes from Gaga’s intimate reveals during the 100-minute doc.

1 GAGA’S

NOT SURE SHE CAN HAVE IT ALL.

When the film opens, a makeupfree Gaga is in the studio working on her latest album, Joanne, and it soon becomes clear that the heartbroken ballad Million Reasons is about Taylor Kinney.

“Me and Taylor are fighting, so that sucks,” she says. “My threshold for (BS) with men is just ... I don’t have one anymore.”

Later, despite celebrating her new role in Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born, Gaga gets honest about the push and pull of her life. “My love life has just imploded,” she says. “I sold 10 million (records) and lost Matt (Williams). I sold 30 million and lost Luc (Carl). I did a movie and lose Taylor. It’s like a turnover. This is the third time I’ve had my heart broken like this.”

2 HER

MAIN BEEF WITH MADONNA IS ...

Gaga starts in on the feud in the teaser trailer. “I still admire her, no matter what she might think of me,” she says in the clip. “The only thing that really bothers me about her is that ...” And that’s where it trails off.

In the documentary, fans get to hear the rest of that thought. “I’m Italian,” she explains. “So if I have a problem with somebody, I’m going to find them and tell them to their face.”

Instead, Madonna called her “reductive” through the media, she says. “I just want Madonna to tell me I’m a piece of (expletive) to my face!”

3 HER PAIN ISSUES ARE BIGGER THAN YOU KNOW.

Despite undergoing surgery for a broken hip in 2013, Gaga still battles partial and full body spasms and cries out in multiple scenes. “Do I look pathetic? I’m so embarrassed,” she sobs at one point. But she’s still got jokes.

“Hey, let’s put Trump on (TV),” she kids. “That’ll knock me out. That’ll traumatize me.”

4 SHE

SPILLS HER SUPER BOWL SHOW SECRETS.

The doc goes behind the scenes of her epic Super Bowl show, and reveals just how detailed Gaga is, from micromanaging the lining of her gold stage jacket to the silicone stickies she applies under her bra before hitting the stage. “The Janet Jackson nipple covers are going on!” says Gaga, grinning.

We also get a peek of a surprise delivery from Kinney before the show. “Nothing like getting flowers from your ex-fiancé before the Super Bowl,” she says dryly.
