Rebuilding Puerto Rico will need federal help

Days after Hurricane Maria hit the island of Puerto Rico, rescue teams continued searching for residents trapped in ravaged communitie­s. The government warned that it may be a while before help arrives.

I really hope Puerto Rico can recover, but it’s going to be hard to be flat broke, out of credit and, on top of that, having to recover from one of the largest disasters in its modern history.

Puerto Rico should definitely try to become a state already. If its economy is failing, and it has resources that no other state has, why wouldn’t it want to become a state? Eric Montgomery
