Former congressman Anthony Weiner, who pleaded guilty in May to sexting with a 15-yearold girl, was sentenced on Monday to 21 months in prison.

Weiner has a sexual addiction and it is offensive. But once he crossed the line toward corrupting a 15-year-old, I completely lost any sympathy for him and his illness. Kimberly Genereux

Weiner is perverted and should have gotten 10 years in prison. I think his aspiration was to be like President Clinton and get away with it. Gary Swank

Seems to me that this girl might not be an angel in this. She could have had a plan to make money by creating a story, releasing details to publicize it and finally setting up a way to sell the full story.

Next chapter could be that she turns around and sues Weiner for “emotional damages” from her online experience and subsequent legal experiences.

I think Weiner wasn’t always like that, and that this activity was spurred by the distance created by his wife’s working relationship with Hillary Clinton. Ed Montvidas

This is sad. This guy is sick and really needs a mental hospital. He needs rehabilitation, and our prison system will just make him worse. Weiner threw away his marriage and whole life because he seemed to be out of control. I hope he gets the help he needs. John Johnson

I actually feel sorry for this guy. What a huge fall from his previous life. If there’s a candidate for suicide watch, he’s it. Tim Landers

He begged for no prison sentence because he is part of the elite liberals. Mike Gryka

Excellent news! Get him off the streets. And take away his cellphone once and for all. Casey Burnham
