EAGLES LOSE SPROLES FOR YEAR

-

The Philadelphia Eagles won’t have versatile running back Darren

Sproles for the rest of the season. He suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and a broken forearm in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, Eagles coach Doug Pederson confirmed. Sproles, 34, had 61 rushing yards this season before he was injured in the first half. The injury leaves the Eagles thin at running back, with LeGarrette Blount and

Wendell Smallwood and undrafted rookie free agent Corey Clement on the active roster. The undersized but speedy Sproles has been a mismatch for defenses for more than a decade.
