Americans grappled Monday with the deadliest mass shooting in the nation’s history, once again searching for answers to a question that continues to be elusive: How did this happen? Again. As authoritie­s searched for a motive for the senseless mass shootings in Las Vegas, the debate over gun control reemerged. As Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman said, “This has been a hugely traumatic time for all of us.”
