WILL POULTER IN ‘IT’

-

The highest-earning horror film of all time might have floated a little differently. Before Andy Muschietti signed on to direct, True Detective director Cary Fukunaga was attached to helm the project, with Will Poulter ( We’re the Millers, The Maze Runner) set to play Pennywise the Clown. But the Detroit actor dropped out of the Stephen King adaptation when Fukunaga exited for creative differences, although Muschietti had hoped to continue working with Poulter before he cast Bill Skarsgård. “I was very, very intrigued by the prospect of working with Will,” Muschietti told Deadline. “I always thought that he would be an amazing Pennywise. We talked a little bit about it, the idea of making the movie even though Cary wasn’t there. Will basically expressed a feeling that he had slowly disengaged from playing that character that was so dark and terrifying.”

?? BROOKE PALMER ?? Would Will Poulter have made a killer clown? We’ll never know; the part went to Bill Skarsgård.
