MODERN FAMILY ABC, 9 ET/PT

The elder Pritchetts and Dunphys drop the next generation off at college in the second episode of the sitcom’s ninth season. Phil (Ty Burrell) and Claire (Julie Bowen) realize that Alex (Ariel Winter) is far more self-sufficient on her own than they realized after a quick visit, and Jay (Ed O’Neill) and Gloria (Sofia Vergara) have to say goodbye to Manny (Rico Rodriguez) as he settles into his dorm.

YOU’RE THE WORST FXX, 10 ET/PT

The foursome at the center of this dark sitcom has been trying to move on after the big breakup, with mixed results, and the struggle continues tonight. Edgar (Desmin Borges) and Jimmy (Chris Geere) go out on an illadvised “man date” as part of Edgar’s efforts to bond. Gretchen (Aya Cash) makes a surprising discovery about the new guy she’s been seeing. And Lindsay (Kether Donohue) tries to make friends at work, in her own special way.

STAR FOX, 9 ET/PT

The girls are less than enthused about their intrusive new label head Ayanna (Michael Michele), who demands they rebrand and change their image to compete with the label’s other artists. Star (Jude Demorest) tries to fix things all on her own, angering Carlotta (Queen Latifah). Paris Jackson also returns as Rachel Wells for the episode.
