Amy Earnhardt, wife of Dale Earnhardt Jr., revealed a side of the driver many might not know.

The couple met in the spring of 2008 when Amy was part of an interior design team working on Earnhardt’s new house. She found NASCAR’s most popular driver to be shy, polite and very kind during their initial introduction.

More recently, she also discovered something else about her husband: “He’s a very good singer.

“He’s shy and introverted, but he likes to sing karaoke,” Amy

Earnhardt told USA TODAY Sports. “We have a couple of bars in Key West we go to, and he gets up on stage without any reservation and sings.

“Favorite songs? Good Thing by the Fine Young Cannibals. And Elvis. He likes to sing Little Sister by Elvis.”

Earlier this year, Earnhardt announced that he and Amy would star in a DIY Network (Do It Yourself Network) show that would document their renovations of their house in Key West.

“The series will follow Dale and Amy as they transform a dilapidated historic home into a gorgeous modern retreat in the Old Town historic district,” the network said May 9 when announcing the project that is expected to hit the air next year. “The show will combine Dale’s love of home improvement with Amy’s interior design expertise.”
