CRITIC’S CORNER

- Kelly Lawler

DYNASTY CW, 9 ET/PT This splashy reboot of the classic 1980s prime-time soap doesn’t quite have the claws and depth of its predecessor, but there’s something compelling about its messy first episode. The new version of the series, from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage ( The O.C., Gossip Girl) takes place in Atlanta, where Fallon Carrington (Elizabeth Gillies) is expecting to be promoted in her father’s company. Instead, she learns he’s marrying Cristal (Nathalie Kelley), a woman not much older than she. And everyone involved in the Carrington family, of course, has secrets and hidden agendas.

MR. ROBOT USA, 10 ET/PT

DESIGNATED SURVIVOR ABC, 10 ET/PT

President Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) is tested yet again when a viral pandemic threatens the country. Meanwhile, Agent Wells (Maggie Q) and MI6 Agent Damian Rennett (Ben Lawson) uncover evidence that causes shock waves in the first family.
