U.S., ISRAEL TO EXIT U.N. AGENCY OVER ALLEGED BIAS

The United States announced Thursday that it is pulling out of the United Nations’ educationa­l, scientific and cultural agency because of what Washington called its anti-Israel bias and a need for “fundamenta­l reform” in the agency.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel plans to follow suit.

The United States stopped funding UNESCO after it voted to include the Palestinia­n territorie­s in 2011, but the State Department maintained a UNESCO office.
