TEAMMATE SENDS BULLS FORWARD TO HOSPITAL

Chicago Bulls forwards Nikola Mirotic and Bobby Portis were involved in an altercatio­n at practice Tuesday that sent Mirotic to the hospital. Portis punched Mirotic as part of the altercatio­n, and caused fractures in Mirotic’s face, according to the team. “Chicago Bulls forwards Bobby Portis and Nikola Mirotic had a physical altercatio­n during today’s practice,” the Bulls said in a statement. “As a result of the incident, Mirotic suffered a concussion and maxillary fractures. Surgery is likely required. Mirotic is out indefinite­ly. The Bulls are evaluat- ing disciplina­ry action.” Mirotic, averaged 10.6 points last season and just last month signed a twoyear contract worth $27 million. He has scored 10.8 per game over three seasons. Portis, a backup power forward, has averaged 6.9 points and 5 rebounds in his two seasons with the Bulls.
