The dark take on Archie Comics characters returned for a second season last week with improved ratings and a new mystery hanging over the town. The soapy teen drama’s second episode only raises the anxiety in Riverdale when Archie (K.J. Apa) and friends learn that Miss Grundy (Sarah Habel) has been murdered. Archie doesn’t handle that news — or the fact that the gunman who shot his father (Luke Perry) is still at large — well. The rest of the gang have their own dramas to contend with as Jughead (Cole Sprouse) tries to find a better lawyer for his father, and Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) try to save Pop’s diner.
