LUCK SHUT DOWN, FOR NOW
The Indianapolis Colts are shutting down their $140 million quarterback, for now, placing An
drew Luck’s 2017 season in doubt and likely dashing whatever fading hopes this team had at making a run at the playoffs. Ten months after he had surgery on his throwing shoulder and two weeks after he’d finally returned to the practice field, Luck will undergo a cortisone shot to treat the soreness that has persisted in recent weeks, first-year general manager Chris Ballard revealed Wednesday. Luck practiced for the first time this season Oct. 4 and was throwing 30- and 40yard passes with ease just seven days ago. “It’s natural there’s going to be some pain and soreness when you’re rehabbing an injury,” Ballard said. “And it’s been kinda coming along the whole time. It’s just one thing that hasn’t gone away.” Ballard said the team will not place Luck on injured reserve for now, a move that would end his season.
