ARREST MADE IN GRIFFEY STATUE THEFT

-

A suspect has been arrested for removing the bat from a bronze statue of Ken Griffey Jr. outside of Safeco Field in Seattle, and the bat has been returned to the team. Seattle police said they apprehended the suspect about 10:30 p.m. ET Tuesday, a few hours after the theft occurred. The statue was unveiled at a ceremony at Safeco Field in April. The former outfielder had an eventful year or so that the statue seemed to tie up. His jersey was retired at Safeco and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
