CATALAN PARLIAMENT TO DEBATE TAKEOVER

Catalonia’s regional Parliament plans to hold a debate Thursday on the Spanish prime minister’s plan to take direct control of the region.

The president of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, asked lawmakers to debate options for responding to the takeover moves announced by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who wants to trigger a section of the constitution that would allow the government to run Catalonia.
