AIR FORCE LACROSSE TEAM HIT WITH SUSPENSIONS
The Air Force Academy has suspended several players and coaches from the school’s lacrosse team, the Colorado Springs
Gazette reported. “Some members of the team and coaches have been put into an inactive status and will not participate in group lacrosse activities or intercollegiate competition, until further notice,” academy spokesman Lt. Col. Allen Herritage told the
Gazette. “These actions are effective today and may be revisited as the investigation progresses.” According to the report, reasons for the suspension weren’t given and the school is conducting an investigation into the matter and had no timetable for when that would be completed. The report comes on the heels of the Academy celebrating its athletics department for strengthening its programs to help athletes avoid trouble in the wake of several scandals involving sexual assault, binge-drinking and drug abuse.
